A deep clean is where I start with most new homes, and it's the service to book when the house needs more than a once-over. I work room by room, top to bottom, and I don't skip the places that only get noticed when they're missed: baseboards, door frames, light switches, the top of the fridge, the inside of the microwave.
It takes longer than a regular visit, and I'd rather do it right than rush. When I leave, your home is at a baseline that a regular cleaning can easily keep up.
What’s included in deep cleaning?
Every room
- Dust from the top down: ceiling fans, light fixtures, shelves, picture frames and window sills
- Baseboards, door frames, doors and light switches wiped by hand
- Cobwebs removed from corners and ceilings
- Mirrors and interior glass polished
- Floors vacuumed, including edges and under furniture I can safely move, then mopped
- Trash emptied and bins wiped
Kitchen
- Countertops and backsplash scrubbed and sanitized
- Stovetop, range hood and knobs degreased
- Inside and outside of the microwave
- Outside of all appliances, including the top of the fridge
- Cabinet fronts and handles wiped down
- Sink and faucet scrubbed and shined
Bathrooms
- Shower and tub scrubbed, including grout and glass doors
- Toilet cleaned inside, outside and around the base
- Vanity, sink and faucet sanitized
- Tile and floors scrubbed by hand where they need it
Bedrooms and living areas
- Beds made or linens changed if fresh sheets are left out
- Upholstery vacuumed and cushions straightened
- Surfaces cleared, dusted and tidied
What’s not included?
So there are no surprises, here’s what deep cleaning doesn’t cover:
- Inside the oven or inside the fridge (available as an add-on; mention it when you book)
- Exterior windows, gutters or garages
- Carpet shampooing or upholstery steam cleaning
- Biohazard, mold remediation or post-construction debris
- Moving heavy furniture or appliances
How long does deep cleaning take?
A deep clean takes noticeably longer than a regular visit. The time depends on the size and condition of your home, so I give you a time estimate when you book rather than a guess.
How should I prepare?
A little prep helps me spend the time on actual cleaning:
- 1Pick up loose items, toys and clothes from floors and counters so I can clean the surfaces underneath
- 2Leave out fresh sheets if you'd like beds changed
- 3Let me know about anything fragile, any surfaces that need special care, and any products you'd like me to use or avoid
- 4If you won't be home, arrange a key, garage code or lockbox and tell me where pets will be
Good to know
I bring my own supplies, including gentle, low-fragrance products that are safe around kids and pets. If you'd prefer I use something you already have, just leave it out.
